The PRAYOSHA ADF series is a hydraulic, NC-controlled, fully automatic, high-precision horizontal-spindle surface grinder with a reciprocating table. It uses the column-moving design. In practice it is the PLC surface grinding machine for shops that grind the same flat parts in volume.
The main difference from the hydraulic PH series is the vertical axis. On the ADF, down feed is driven by an AC servo motor through a precision ball screw and nut, and it is programmable. The operator selects a cycle on the 7-inch colour touch-screen HMI, enters stock and feed values, and the machine grinds to size by itself.
Axis drives
Table
Hydraulic cylinder with end cushioning, and solenoid valves for soft table reversals.
Cross feed
AC induction motor and drive through a precision ball screw and nut.
Down feed
AC servo motor through a precision ball screw and nut, with programmable automatic down feed.
Grinding cycles
- Semi-auto cycle: automatic table and cross feed, with down feed released by the operator
- Auto cycle: programmed rough feed, fine feed and spark-out to final size
- Plunge cycle: straight infeed for slots and shoulders
Features
- Vertical programmable auto down feed
- Hydraulic X-axis with end cushioning and soft solenoid-valve reversals
- Y-axis driven by an AC induction motor through a precision ball screw
- Spindle on imported super-precision bearings, grease-packed for life
- 7-inch colour touch-screen HMI for cycle selection and parameters
Applications
The manufacturer lists PLC surface grinders for thread rolling dies, machine tool fixtures, backing plates and turbine blades. They also suit any batch of flat parts where a consistent size matters more than flexibility, such as bearing rings held on a magnetic chuck, valve plates, pump components and automotive brackets.
When to choose CNC instead
If you need profile grinding, criss-cross cycles or dressing with automatic wheel compensation, go for a CNC surface grinding machine. If your work is mostly one-off toolroom jobs, the hydraulic Premier or Supreme will be more economical.
Frequently asked questions
What does PLC mean on a surface grinding machine?
The machine's cycles and automatic down feed are controlled by a programmable controller with an HMI, so grinding to size does not depend on the operator's handwheel.
What cycles does the ADF series offer?
Standard semi-auto, auto and plunge grinding cycles, selected on a 7-inch colour touch-screen HMI.
Which parts are ground on PLC surface grinders?
Thread rolling dies, machine tool fixtures, backing plates and turbine blades are listed by the manufacturer. Many other batch-produced flat parts are also suitable.
Is the ADF series suitable for high production?
Yes. The manufacturer lists high production and batch production as its applications.
